Spatial Data Analysis, Visualization & Cartographic Presentation

Spatialworks specializes in the analysis and presentation of geographic data using GIS technologies. We apply GIS technology and concepts to perform complex analysis of spatial data in support of project objectives. We can manipulate and restructure existing data in order to make them compatible for use within the GIS database.

Once the data are available with known parameters they can be used in combination with other data as themes or layers to produce a desired result. Geographic analysis tools for database queries, overlays, point data analysis, etc. are utilized to provide a clear understanding of the issues. Data models may also be developed to allow for standard processing of similar data in different geographic areas.

The analytical results can then be transformed into a visual form that highlights special conditions that may not be recognizable in standard presentations. 

We use our experience and technical skills to present the results of the GIS analysis into a readable form that is understandable by the reader regardless of their technical capability.

Spatialworks has developed urban poverty mapping of KL & PJ for Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister Department.  The main objective of the project is to develop database and mapping of urban poverty incidences, which can be used to derive specific anti-poverty policies and strategies. The project also provided recommendation on spatial analysis techniques, suitability of poverty mapping, and recommended potential improvements in poverty census.The results of this project are being used by EPU, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, and Department of Statistics (DOS).

Langat Pollution Information System or LaPIS has been developed using ArcView’s Avenue Scripts and Dialog Designer.   LaPIS has the capability to invoke external modeling and import the results back to ArcView for display.

LaPIS has the functionalities to:

  • automatically map river water quality classification
  • charts pollution loadings by sources and type by sub-basins, 
  • produce thematic maps of selected pollution loadings by sub-basin, 
  • run QUAL2E modeling and re-display spatial pattern of QUAL2E modeling results in ArcView.
